New Site Design will go live March 4

February 20, 2009

New look, same easy-to-use functionality.

Starting on March 4, Interfolio users will see a new design with enhanced navigation. The way you use Interfolio to request letters, add documents and make deliveries will not change.  Even with the new navigation and new colors, Interfolio will be as familiar and as easy-to-use as before.

You can see the new look in the screenshots below.

The new “Documents” tab will replace the old “My Documents” tab:

UPDATE: AMCAS Receiving Letters Electronically

September 18, 2008

If you have not processed your delivery to AMCAS yet, you can abandon the old method.

For all future deliveries to AMCAS, please follow these intructions:

1) Make sure that your AAMC ID is stored in the “Account Settings” section of your account.

2) Once all of your letters have been received into your Interfolio account, create a delivery.

3) After you have selected the AMCAS position and added your documents, make sure to include your AAMC ID in Step 3 of the delivery process.

4) After you hit checkout, you will be prompted to enter the AMCAS Letter ID’s for each document you are sending. Please make sure that the ID’s you enter are accurate, as inaccurate ID’s will prevent your letters from being processed.

Now that AMCAS is receiving electronically, the process is much simpler, but please make sure to include both your AAMC ID and the appropriate AMCAS Letter ID’s with your deliveries. Otherwise, your documents will NOT be properly processed by the AMCAS system. You do not need to worry about sending us the physical AMCAS Letter Request Forms, or including those with your deliveries.

As always, direct any questions to help@interfolio.com or (877) 77-FOLIO. Please contact AMCAS with any questions regarding the specific details of their process.

Use Interfolio to Send Your Letters to AMCAS!

May 22, 2008

Interfolio has been working with AMCAS to ensure that our users will be able to send letters from their Interfolio accounts to AMCAS for the twenty schools participating in their pilot letter program. Below are instructions on how to submit your letter to AMCAS using Interfolio.

1) Request and store your LORs through Interfolio as usual

2) If you have the AMCAS Letter Request form for your letter (available on the AMCAS site), please upload it into your Interfolio account and include it in your delivery. Please DO NOT give it to your letter writer.
Here’s how to upload it:

  • From your “My Documents” view, click the link to “Add Document”
  • Select “Other Document” from the “Document Type” drop down menu
  • Give your document a unique title (i.e. “AMCAS Letter Request Form for Professor Smith”)
  • Upload the AMCAS Letter Request Form to your account

3) Include an AMCAS Letter Request Form for each document in your Interfolio delivery to AMCAS. So if you have 3 letters, you will include six documents in your delivery (3 letters and 3 AMCAS Letter Request Forms). If you have 1 committee letter, include 1 Letter Request Form.

4) Remember, you only have to send ONE Interfolio delivery to AMCAS for any of the twenty participating schools, whether you are applying to one or all twenty.

NOTE: If you do not have an AMCAS Letter Request form, you can still send letters to AMCAS though Interfolio. Be sure to check with AMCAS to make sure they have received and correctly matched your letter to your application.

As this new AMCAS process gets under way, we will initially be sending paper copies of your letters to AMCAS, while our team works with AMCAS to integrate with their system. By summer, we will facilitate both electronic delivery and the inclusion of the AMCAS Letter ID in your delivery.

If you have any questions about the AMCAS process, please contact them directly. If you have any questions for us, you can reach us at 877-77-FOLIO or help@interfolio.com.

Billing Changes

March 7, 2008

On Saturday, March 8th, Interfolio will introduce a couple of minor changes to the payment process:

1) Ability to Use PayPal – If you use PayPal (www.paypal.com) to cover online transactions, you now have the ability to pay for Interfolio transactions using your PayPal account.

2) CVV Code Now Required – Many websites collect the Card Verification Value (CVV), also known as the Card Security Code, that appears on all credit and debit cards. For Visa, MasterCard, and Discover users, the CVV is a three-digit verification found on the back of the card. American Express users can find their four-digit code on the front of their card. Please see the picture below for further clarification.

New Feature: Clone Previous Deliveries

December 14, 2007

Interfolio users will now be able to clone previous deliveries that they have already made.

Formerly you had the option to create a new delivery using the same documents as another delivery. However, the exact order of the documents would be reset, meaning that you would need to shift those documents around in order to replicate the same exact order.

To utilize this feature, reference your “Delivery History.” Once there, click on the desired shipment to pull up the “Delivery Details” screen. At the bottom of this screen will be the link to “Clone Delivery.” When you click on that, you will be directed to the “Add Delivery” screen where you can then add the address information and process your delivery.

Still reeling

April 18, 2007

As I was settling in at work on Monday, I read online that there had been a shooting at Virginia Tech. The initial report described a shooting in which 1 person was killed, while several others were also wounded. As terrible as that was, each following report described an ever-growing tragedy. The number killed hit double digits. 21. 22. “Around 30.” The final number, excluding the gunman himself, was eventually pegged at 32. That’s 32 dreams suddenly ended, 32 sets of parents left to cope with the aftermath, and hundreds of friends, significant others, and acquaintances left to wonder why.

D.C. is situated several hours away from Blacksburg, VA, but the Virginia Tech presence is strong. Though many universities boast a large alumni presence in this area, VT’s is especially strong as many alumni live and work in the metropolitan area. Driving around I see dozens of cars bearing the either the Hokie or the VT logo. The bar down the street shows all the Tech football games every Saturday in the fall. Several of the victims had connections to the greater D.C. area. A few friends of mine from high school, and even middle school, are either currently there or are recent alums. A girlfriend (a Virginia Tech grad) of one of our employees has a brother currently enrolled there. One of his closest friends was killed as a result of Monday’s shooting. Even 4 hours away, this tragedy hit close to home.

Our thoughts continue to be with the friends and families of the victims, and the Virginia Tech community as a whole.
